Powerful homemade diode pumped Pr:Ylf laser!
In this video, I show you a laser setup using a Pr:Ylf crystal. This crystal can emit at multiple visible wavelengths (green, orange, red and more) which is quite rare for laser gain media.
► This setup also reaches quite high output powers (above 300mW) and shows some beautiful TEM modes!
► If you want to know more about this laser, I've written an article on my website about it: www.sci-projects.org/blog/diode-pumped-prylf-laser-emitting-at-640-604-and-523nm
► This project also has a GitHub-Page for more details: github.com/NiklasHammerstone/PrYlf-Laser

How to align pulsed lasers with plane mirrors
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 года назад
Laser resonators with plane mirrors (typical for Nd:Yag or ruby lasers) are notoriously hard to align without special equipment. In this video, I show how it can be done quite precisely in a home workshop like mine. All you need is a second collimated laser (like a HeNe) and an adjustable mirror. This method works quite reliably and without much prior experience in this field. Great videos abou...
A continous wave diode pumped RUBY LASER
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
► My blog post about this laser: www.sci-projects.org/blog/cw-diode-pumped-ruby-laser ► Thanks so much to Dr. Walter Luhs for his help in this project! This is the paper I based this design upon: dx.doi.org/10.1364/OSAC.2.000184 In this video, I show you, how I made a continous wave diode pumped ruby laser. This is quite an unusual build, since the vast majority of ruby lasers are pulsed. Altho...

      @@WoodenWeaponry ty but it is funny how we are still seeing the intense lines of both volumes as if there is lasing and stimulated emission still happening although no output , there really should not be such sharp line if the resonator is not aligned and should only appear once mirrors align

    • @WoodenWeaponry
      @WoodenWeaponry Месяц назад

      Ah, I see what you mean. The fluorescence comes from the pumplight entering the crystal (first stripe) and being reflected and focussed back into the crystal by the curved OC mirror (second stripe).

    hmm is the wavelength different than the typical 694nm you get using a flash lamp because you are using another pump source and its absorbing and emitting something different frequency?

    • @WoodenWeaponry

      No, the excitation source has, in this case, no influence on the emission properties.

    one reason why the retail blue diode engraving laser systems have retangular spot shapes is that they are not truly "beam combined". in these systems, the term used is "Knife edging" and its *not* the same approach as the coherent or spectral beam combination that is used in the "serious" technial laser designs in commecrial systems (commonly used in Fiber-Pump modules, eg see the IPG photonics website, where they have images of de lidded modules showing their internal optical setups) essentially the rectangular beam is created when multiple beams *DO NOT* follow the same perfectly co-axial path/alignment, and actually allign *slightly* off-center, spaced laterally relative to each other (in addition to a "dumb" aperture that may be filtering as well) to the naked eye, these arrangements can appear to be similar or identical. a few of the stage laser ompanies have diagrams explaining the whole "smeared out" imperfect overlap "Knife edging" approach
